Description of content:  A conformity assessment program executed under the authority of SON to ensure consumer protection through the prevention of the placing on the Nigerian market of unsafe and substandard products.

Objective and rationale, including the nature of urgent problems where applicable:  Protection of health, safety, the environment and prevention of deceptive practices.

8.

Relevant documents:  SONCAP Procedures and Guidelines for exporting consumer products to Nigeria.  This document will shortly be available from www.soncap.com and will be refined on an ongoing basis as deemed necessary to meet the objectives of SONCAP.
