The compliance of the above-mentioned products with their particular safety criteria shall be reported to the concerned authority by the manufacturer or importer (imported products only) before the products are sold in Korea. The market surveillances will be done by the concerned authority then the products not complied with the safety criteria will be withdrawn in the market.

◦ life-jackets for sports and leisure, mountaineering ropes, batteries (including rechargeable battery), engine antifreeze coolants, non-petroleum base motor vehicle brake fluids, windshield washer fluids for automobiles, safety glasses for road vehicles, warning ref1ex reflectors for automobiles, protector for roller sports users, high-visibility warning jackets, friction-resistant tiles for bathroom floor, portable ladders, portable laser devices, shopping trolleys, roller skates, children’s high chairs, stationary training equipment, bicycles, roller shoes (18 items): the current safety inspection criteria are applied as safety criteria:
- Safety criteria for batteries (including rechargeable battery) include the safety criteria for rechargeable battery as well as safety requirements for lead content;
- The pair glass is included in the items subject to the safety criteria for safety glasses for road vehicles reflecting the standards of KS L 2003 and ECE R43;
- Safety criteria for ‘scaffolding-controlled ladder’ is included in the scope of Part 2: scaffolding ladders of portable ladders;
- As the diversity of the children’s high chairs is acceptable, the children’s chair with special function whose the specification regarding the limit of height may be deleted;
- Safety criteria for ‘Part 4: treadmills’ of stationary training equipment include ‘durability test of control switch’ and ‘electric safety test method’, and ‘accuracy rate’ and ‘rated motor horsepower’ should be indicated on the label. In addition, some specifications are modified, likewise ‘Part 8: slider for sports’ is added to these safety criteria.
◦ Textile products (underwear, baby’s clothing, bedclothes), carpets, tires for automobiles, ceramic table wares, hand-operated mechanical ice grinders, portable jacks for automobiles, water tank, wallpapers and floor coverings on a base of paper, mattresses of beds, swimming goggles, skateboards, children’s tricycles, snow-skis and other snow-ski equipment, roller skates, children’s two-stage beds (15 items): the current safety inspection criteria are applied as safety criteria:
- Textile products (underwear, baby’s clothing, bedclothes), carpets: these safety criteria will be modified equivalent to the criteria of Eko-tex standards, the harmful chemical substances and standard value have been specified, and KS K 0611 has been adopted as the test method by the harmful chemical substances.
◦ School things (crayon and oil pastels, glues, clays, notebooks), chemical products (organic surface-active agents, room perfumery, adhesives, polishes, deodorants, detergents, bleaches, fabric softeners), toys (including motion toys, motionless toys, toy balloons), portable cooling/heating vessels (4 items): the current safety inspection criteria and safety verification criteria are applied:
- Safety criteria for deodorants, bleaches, fabric softeners are newly established, and clays and glues are subject to the school things;
- In particular for toys, these standards are modified equivalent to European standards; domestic play devices are included in the products subject to the safety inspection, the safety for harmful chemical substances is highlighted.
◦ Carrier for baby, children’s jewellery accessories, digital door locks, walking frames for the elderly, walking sticks for the elderly, snowboards (7 items) are newly added to the items subject to the voluntary safety confirmation; safety criteria for plastic kitchen wares and utensils, soft polyvinylchloride hoses, disposable diapers which are modified from the items subject to the quality mark (3 items) have been established, adopting the KS standards, standards of US, Europe, Japan.
