Description of content: The notified text establishes a mandatory certification system for standard carbon zinc and alkaline manganese primary cells and batteries and button cells classified under NCM tariff headings 8506.10.10 (alkaline cells), 8506.10.20 (other cells), and 8506.10.30. This certification system is consistent with ISO certification system 1b (ISO/IEC Guide 67:2004) and is based on the study of samples taken by the National Customs Directorate at each customs clearance office.
The certification system must respect the maximum levels of mercury, cadmium and/or lead set forth in Law No. 3.107/2006.
Certification will be granted by a product certification body accredited by the National Accreditation Body.
